Where's the convention at? Sands Expo Center, Mandalay Bay, and Las Vegas Convention Center are 3 seperate venues with very different hotels near them.
Or are you just trying to book a convention rate because it's cheaper than the regular rates??
Usually convention rates are doing through housing companies, not the hotels directly, who submit the rooming lists to the hotels and convention organizers.

Yes, the convention is at the Sands Expo center and the hotel is the Venetian or Palazzo. The rates for a room that wk were $279 but thru the convention, $159. I did call the hotel and they see my reservation so I don't know that anything went thru the convention people at all. I will still keep ck'ing for promos though to see if there will be a better rate posted at the last minute.
