Hi Guys,

I'm gonna to visit Manila at last week of this month. My friend and me.

I know there are a lot of fruit there. And I'd like to try some seafood there.

We're looking for some delicious and not very expansive restaurant, since my friend and I always like to taste some unique food when travelling.

We're not too rich, so we planed to spend around $1000 at Manila. Of cause,if we have fun there, we'd like to pay more.

If there is anyone has been Philippine and tell me the information, I'll appreciate it.

I tried Zagat...no luck.

Hot dog or fried dog meat... which do they serve there ?

Monkey meat and Balut just for your pleasure.

I lived there for a couple of years - most of the "high-end" restaurants in Manila are American sit-down chains like Chili's, Outback Steakhouse, and the like so you won't find authentic Filipino food there. If you want legit Filipino food you'd need to ask around. Some of the best seafood I've ever had was at a little cantina off the side of a two lane road in San Jose Del Monte, Bulucan. I vaguely remember being told that Dampa sa Libis was decent but I never personally ate there - http://www.cosmotourist.com/travel/d/i/2564635/t/quezon-city/dampa-sa-libis/

The Philippine cuisines feature a spicy blend of various cultures - a legacy left by past colonizers. The mixture of Malay, Chinese and Spanish influences have complemented the Filipino's way of traditional cooking style, which resulted in a uniquely Filipino gastronomic treasure. Popular dishes adopted from Chinese are "lumpiang shanghai" and "pancit". While several traditional dishes still retain their Spanish names such as "mechado," "menudo," and "pochero."

There are a lot of restaurants in Manila. You can go to Intramuros for authentic dishes. Also, you can to Greenbelt to taste all the fusion cuisine that rows of restaurants there offer. Then, you should go on a food trip at "Dampa" or the restaurants along Manila Bay where you pick and choose fresh seafood and meat and they will cook it right there on how you want it to be. Then, savor some more types of food at "Tiendesitas" in Ortigas Avenue. Food tripping is fun and cheap there.

Avoid the cat dishes, stay with the dog samplers.
The only really cheap place is regional chain called "RetchNoMore"
and I'd avoid it. Overpriced.
