Select 3rd party seller Adorama Camera to get the $50 FS price.
Direct from Amazon, this printer costs $142.

Excellent customer reviews on Amazon (almost all 5 stars).
This is a nice portable printer for people if you need to print photos in the field.
It is compact and durable and has a built-in handle for easy carrying.
You do not need to plug it in to a computer; just insert your camera's memory card into the printer then select the image via the 3 inch LCD display.
Dye-sublimation makes this printer more reliable and fool-proof than traditional ink jet printers.
Print quality is reportedly very good.
Maximum print size is 4x6 inches.
Replacement cartridges (including paper and ink) costs $30 for 100 sheets, so you are paying a premium for portability and convenience vs. having your local drug store print the photos.

Thanks, OP! I was looking out for a deal on a photo printer for my wedding (going to do a photo guestbook thing)... ordered!

$30 for 100 4x6 sheets plus the cost of the paper and you have to do it yourself?? This thing should be about free then to make it competetive...

$30 includes the ink and paper. As the OP says, you are paying a premium (vs. 20 cent drug store prints) to get instant results in the field. This isn't for everyone.

isn't original Polaroid camera was smaller than this camera + printer setup?
but, people paid $1-$10 on spot for Polaroid pictures as it was almost instant. I paid for those pictures - may be 10 years ago.
this setup for $0.30 / almost instant picture might not be bad.

Traveling in some harsh areas in the world, the quickest way to make friends is to print someone the first picture of themselves they have ever had. Worth 10x this if you get out in the 3rd world.

These photos are reportedly much higher quality than old Polaroids. However, I think this printer has a power cord, unlike a Polaroid camera.

There is a battery powered Polaroid photo printer on the market now, but the photos are only 2x3 inches and the battery only lasts for a dozen or so photos.

This Canon portable printer is probably mostly for indoor social gatherings (e.g. birthday parties) where are taking a lot of candid photos and you can have the printer plugged in all the time. Might also be good for a professional on-location photographer (weddings, etc.) who wants to make instant photo proofs. Print photos always look different from on-screen previews, even on big LCDs like laptops.

Thanks OP, I'll give it a try. It's not going to be a good pro print, but hopefully something usable.

BTW - If ordering the 100 pack of paper with it, watch out for the ship time, mine said 5 weeks. I canceled and order from B&H for a couple bucks more. Buy.com was a few pennies cheaper for me, but I prefer B&H.

Is this not the FAR printer that Staples had quite often when you bought a camera.

The one Staples had is a different version with the same technology, but actually smaller - it doesn't have the carrying case as part of the unit. Also, I think you can get a battery for this one.

We love the quality of the prints.
