FRYS BM - AMD ATHLON II X3 440 + MSI 785GTM-E45 79.99 AR + TAX
This is not a Friday's repeat deal. This one is cheaper by $10 than that.
Yesterday's deal here: http://www.fatwallet.com/forums/hot-deals/991598

Green for you garlicnun. I like MSI boards.

Anyone bought this combo? if so, what's the stepping on the CPU?
if it is a Deneb core, it would have a decent chance of unlocking the 4th core and L3 cache.

Why don't you go and try it out yourself.

WOW!! $10 less gets you a generation older motherboard with 2 DDR2 slots whereas the one from yesterday's deal is with 4 DDR2 slots.

Correct me if I'm wrong but the 785g came after the 790gx plus it's microATX vs FullATX.
The 785 might be a bit weaker (mainstream system vs performance system), but it has HDMI + 7.1HD Audio + HD4200 onboard graphics which in my opinion is great for an HTPC.
the 790 from yesterday had no HDMI, 5.1 Audio, and HD3300 onboard graphics.

Damnit Fry's needs a location in the Cincinnati area.

FWIW, HD3300 > HD4200....clocked at 700MHz vs. 500MHz. Not that either is anything to get excited about...but both are better than Intel 4500 integrated graphics.

Picked up the Biostar 790GX / Athlon II X3 440 yesterday from my local Frys (Nor Cal) and it's a Propus core....L3 cache physically missing. Didn't bother trying to enable the fourth core. Anyone else buy and get a Deneb?

Indy is only a couple of hr away Ya I wish we had one here too..

I think you have to get in the Phenom line of chips to get a Deneb..some Athlon II`s with the right motherboard will unlock cores but your not going to
have a Deneb...Phenom II x2 if your lucky you could end up with a full quad Deneb with all the extra L3..

Obligatory "I hate Fry's BM threads" post. Grr

Not so. Some Athlon II's are Denebs as well and with some luck will unlock to Phenom II (like the Athlon II x3 425 unlocked to Phenom II x4 I'm using right now).

Sounds about right to me, Axelerate. vk2690 just an idiot that feels the need to post his opinion even when he's clueless it would seem.
