Not exactly a repost, though there are several deals for this router listed for other retailers.

$20 MIR is not posted on the item page, but is applicable for ALL Asus retailers. Rebate good through 12/31/2008. I "stole" the PDF from ZZF, where the router goes for $30 after MIR. The PDF has no mention of ZZF, and I assume it's available directly from Asus as well.

Here is the link to the router on NewEgg.

Rebate is attached in the summary below.

Update (Dec 22): Price is back to $39.99, and with FREE SHIPPING. $19.99 AR!

Update (Dec 11): Rebate is now on the product page. Also, Newegg has raised the price $59.99, but with free shipping. Upon discovery, it appears Newegg has used the MIR to justify raising the price by $20.

Looks like a good price. Does anyone know if this router can be used as a Wireless Bridge right out-of-the-box or with DD-WRT and/or Tomato?

I need another WB to add to the Zyxel P-330W that I'm using. I have had great experience with ASUS products in the past and would like to try this.

thanks

Great find, too bad shipping @ Newegg for this item is very high. Lowest is $9.27 to Minneapolis.

you can do this via zzf and live.com/eBay. That will give you for about $20 after MIR.

Yeah they have a couple as I recall, I don't know the names though. The question is whether you would get a reciept that would be accepted by the rebate place.

is there any N router out there that would be a comparable kind of deal to this??

I was wondering the same about the wireless bridge capability.

I would have some concern about the rebate.
It says to Log on to http://asus.rebateaccess.com and register your mail-in rebate online, but the PROMOTION #21098 (on the PDF form) is nowhere to be found

And the fact that is shows a $20 instant through Newegg.

With DDR or Tomato you can do the wireless bridge very simple, What I want to know is can you use the USB port for storage, NAS box. Does anybody know.

Due to this routers 2 megs of flash you can only load the micro version of DD-WRT. The micro version is feature limited so I suggest that you check out and compare to make sure it meets your needs if you plan on using it with DD-WRT. Here is a link to the file version page on DD-WRT's wiki.

Below is the stats on the modem. (Model - FCC ID - Platform & Frequency [MHz] - RAM [MB] - Flash Memory [MB] - Wireless NIC - WLAN standard [802.11] - Ethernet port count - Special Features/notes - min required DD-WRT version - Notes for Running DD-WRT)
WL520G - MSQWL520G - Broadcom5350@200 - 8 - 2 - Broadcom - b/g - 4 LAN/1 WAN - 9 - V24-SP1 micro - initial flash via web interface

Cheers.

As far as I can tell it doesn't support wireless bridging out of the box, though the software interface is so bad that it could be hidden somewhere. It does support wds, however, so if you have another wds-capable routers/AP you're set. I had wds set up with the asus and a Belkin router and it worked fine.

The software is easily the most confusing I've worked with, but it works well once it's set up and is very stable, so I haven't bothered flashing it. Last I checked, installing dd-wrt/tomato would also disable the print server.

Actually this is for the WL520GU which includes a usb port and has 16mb ram and 4mb of flash which should be able to handle the normal version just fine. This also means it should function as a print server, NAS with the correct usb devices connected.

zzf on eBay $53.20 + FS - 25% CashBack (anyone still trying that) - $20 MIR = $19.90?

EDIT: Though, no sign of a store restriction at the ASUS rebate site, either, for this deal.
