ooh tempting

FYI: The WalMart reviewers say the HD picture is good, but the non-HD is not. So unless you are planning to watch HD only (many channels are NOT HD), you may want to reconsider.

I'll probably try to get one. Hopefully there isn't a line.

Use satellite receiver or dvd player that upscales to 1080i, problem solved.

I was thinking about doing that, I know they pricematch up to 10 days after purchase.

Found this on AVSForum:
I downloaded the Sanyo owners manual (DP42848 & DP46848) and also found a service manual for an older Sanyo set.
I can't find any adjustment in the owners manual for white balance (warm, cool, standard). Also, it appears that the basic settings you make for brightness, contrast and color cover all inputs. Other sets have separate settings for each type of input. Also this set does not have an adjustment for lamp brightness, (backlight). When I downloaded the owners manual for a Vizio I saw all the things the Sanyo can not do. I found a 46 and 47" Vizio for only $100 more than the Sanyo 46848. If you are comfortable in a service menu, you can make 100's of adjustments to tweak the tv including white balance. BUT, I have a 13 year old Zenith 32" AVI series which has more items adjustable from the regular menu than the Sanyos.
One good point is that I e-mailed Sanyo last night to see which Zoran video processor board was being used and this a.m. I had a response with a name, 800# and extension to call.

Red for that? I thought it was a good one.

Wrong.

2 more months and its all digital for everyone. SD sets will still continue to be made and sold.

dtv.gov/consumercorner.html#faq1 said:If I want a new TV, will I have to buy a High Definition TV (HDTV) to watch digital broadcast television after the transition?

No. It is important to understand that the DTV transition is a transition from analog broadcasting to digital broadcasting. It is not a transition from analog broadcasting to High Definition broadcasting. Digital broadcasting allows for High Definition broadcasts, but High Definition is not required, and you do not need to buy a HDTV to watch digital TV. A Standard Definition DTV (which is simply a TV with an internal digital tuner), or a digital-to-analog converter box hooked to an analog TV, is all that is required to continue watching over-the-air broadcast television. Digital broadcast television includes Standard Definition (SD) and High Definition (HD) formats. You can watch High Definition programming on a Standard Definition DTV (or on an analog TV hooked to a digital-to-analog converter box), but it won’t be in full High Definition quality. It is also important to know that Standard Definition DTVs are comparably priced to similar sized analog TVs.
