Not sure if this is priced at my local Lowes only or it is nation wide clearance, it seems to be avery good deal for <$7.00. It might be good to be used as overseeding in the fall.
The reviews on this grass does not look good.. i.e it does not grow. So for $7 it may be worth it.. but you may want to put that $7 toward grass seed that will do the job you bought it to do - like grow.

It grows just fine if you keep the seedbed moist. There are far too many variables to consider when seed does not grow. Most of the time it has nothing to do with the seed.
first off it is not a closeout its a new bag. All of Pennington stuff is going over to Sta-Green that is why we saw all of the Pennington clearances last year on pennington last year. rebel is another pennington brand. so this will occur when each manager wants to start the markdown
I used the store changing trick to order.. online it says pickup in MA but email confirmation says pickup at my local store for the price OP mentioned.. worth a try walking into the store with confirmation?

I'd have to disagree based on my experience with this last year. I put Marathon seed on my front lawn but bought this for the parkway area. It was all tilled and compost worked in and even had starter fertilizer but I'd say only about 40% of the seed sprouted on the parkway. And that's with sprinklers to keep it well watered! BTW the Marathon looks terrific! So buyer beware on this brand.

Tried to switch store and the price switched as well..Any special trick to switching stores when items in cart?...I'm game to try
It just sunk in that I bought 340 lbs of grass seed (@ 10 cents per pound). Contemplating whether the wife will accept the "I got a good deal" excuse...

tall fescue is considered a weed, but by itself it's a grass type. Hope no one is wanting to mix it with anything else! It will eventually get drowned out! The leaves on tall fescue are thicker than usual and more course to the feel. It's unusually hardy and withstands high volume traffic and is very heat tolerant. Tall fescue doesn't root like all the other grass types as well. The roots are more creeping vine type. Impossible to kill unless you are using round-up.
Two stores <10 miles apart. One is selling for $18.44 the other $5.90. Next closest store has it for $42.27. Northern New England where right now its snowing and we haven't had bare ground since November. Interesting "logic" to pricing. Store where its $42.27 has coldest temps.

Lots of misinformation there.
Tall fescue is a cool season grass and is not heat tolerant. Tall fescue also does NOT root like creeping vines.
Tall Fescue is a clumping grass. It does not spread or creep.
Rebel is a fescue blend. It may have a little creeping red, and fine fescue mixed in. IIRC there's four different types of fescue in the bag.
Vinegar, drought, plastic etc will kill it just fine without the use of roundup.

Maybe you can build a fort out of the bags so you have a place to stay when she kicks you out of the house, lol!

Lowe's in Hudson just called and said they are cancelling my order of 17 $2 bags. I got further info and allegedly, they had to return to the vendor because the seed is expired. The guy at Lowes said the expired grass won't grow well. For all you purchasers out there - check the date.
I'm now waiting for clearance on the Carl's Kentucky Bluegrass/California Sinsemilla hybrid.

Picked up 100lbs from Manchester Ct. store, there were a few left but I didn't feel the need to buy it all for no reason, was not expired, not even close, seems kind of odd for a clearance price at every store, every bag every Lowes had is from the same expired date? I used this same seed when I had a sewer line run to my house, my lawn is no golf course green turf so this stuff blended in perfect, some did die but overall I was satisfied with it.

Sounds like the employees figured this was a good deal, too.
