Just got back from HD and they had just opened the Milwaukee M18 impact and hammer drill combo for $199. The hammer drill itself sells for ~$200. Be kind, first post.

Need a The Home Depot coupon that earns 5.0% Cash Back?

THANKS, this is a great find I've been looking actually for this set for awhile. They've been staying around $250-280 on Amazon http://camelcamelcamel.com/Milwaukee-2697-22-18-Volt-2-Inch-2-To... . I tried a lot of drills at the store over the past couple of months and this one so far has been my absolute favorite in terms of power and comfort. Anyone know much about milwaukee in regards to the m18 brand and quality/warranty and customer service?
thanks again, on my way to pick one up from Home Depot now....

Milwaukee and Makita are two of the best. For the price with a hammer drill, can't beat it.

Found one at the store in West Lebanon NH. This is the best hammer drill I've ever used what a steal at this price. To make it even hotter go to the post office and gram a movers kit there is a 10% off Lowes coupon HD will honor it.

Can someone verify the model number of the hammer drill?...is it 2602-22?

Model is 2602-20

Correct, 2602-20 is on my hammer drill as well.

Hmm...I wonder if 2602-20 is the hammer drill only (bare tool) and 2602-22 is the same hammer drill combined with a battery/charger. Anyone know if they are actually two different hammer drills?

The 2602-22 is what came with my combo (impact and hammer drill)

Completely agree, I went with the Makita set, but have used the Milwaukee set numerous times. This is a professional grade tool that will last a long time and take tons of abuse!

No that doesn't have the hammer drill.

Good deal - too bad I just spent the $50 in gift cards I had at HD on something less useful... To buy or not to buy why does FW always cause this question?

The impact driver only has 1450 in/lbs of torque. This is pretty poor. My Ryobi has 2400 and it is barely enough.

Ended up buying one and using a Harbor Freight 20% off coupon to make it around ~$160. They didn't have this combo out or on display - it was on a high shelf and I had to ask for someone to get it for me.

Good deal. I've been looking for a set like this for a while. The compact batteries should be fine for home owners. I was able to use a 20% off coupon from a local Harbor Freight, but the employees didn't really want to give it until a manager gave it to me. Major YMMV on the Harbor Freight coupon, even if they are near. Just under $160 + tax after the coupon.

The one on Amazon has the high capacity batteries, while this one has the compact batteries, so the price comparison is not valid. Not that this isn't a good deal, just not as good as your comparison implies.

Your tool is an impact wrench, not an impact driver. They work more or less the same way but have different purpose. Your impact wrench has a 1/2" square drive for sockets and this impact driver has 1/4 hex drive for screw driving bits and such. Even my Makita with around 1300 in-lb will drive a 1/4" lag screw into 4x4 just fine. This is not for lug nuts on a car. Not to mention an impact driver weighs about a full pound less than an impact wrench.

I bought a refurbed Makita set similar to this w/ 3.0Ah batteries last year for $230 so for new tool, this is a good deal. I only bought the kit w/ 3Ah batteries because that was the best deal I could find at the time.

The compact batteries save about 0.7lbs each. IMO, for home use, the compact will be fine, but for professional use, one might want the longer run time along with a few extra batteries. Unless of course you are building a fence or remodeling your house and building a wall or something in which case you want the additional run time, but that said, holding a 4-5 lb tool up all day does get tiring.

Just like my Makita set, the batteries are 1.5 and 3.0 amp hours for the compact and full size batteries. For around the house, I have not expended a fully charged battery in one go. I have repaired fences, but never built a whole one.

The best part of an impact driver, for those that haven't used one, is that when driving fasteners, they do not kick unlike a drill. If the fastener gets stuck, it will keep driving the fastener slowly. It does get ridiculously loud though so I do suggest hearing protection if you are using it all day. For example installing a new deadbolt for gramps, I put in 3" screws into the door frame for the strike box, but the screws stopped after going in easily about half-way. I kept my finger on the trigger and it kept driving the screw slowly and but it got loud enough that my hearing impaired gramps heard it from the next room.

Nice deal. As noted, the batteries are the lower capacity ones. But for $160 (using the Harbor Freight) coupon, this was worth the plunge. Thanks OP. I returned an 18V Dewalt Ni-cad combo I got for Xmas (still in the box w/ receipt) and ended up with almost $100 in HD credit after this buy.
