There was a post on this about 2 months ago, but the deal is still good now. BrandSmart have it on their ad.
It's a Canon SD780IS for $118.88 + Tax. This is a very small camera excellent for carrying around. I bought one myself and thought it's pretty good. Full Auto mode is excellent for daytime but at night the flash tend to "not enabled", so you get blurry pictures.
- 12.1 Megapixel - 2.5" LCD Screen - 3x Optical Zoom - 4x Digital Zoom - Optical Image Stabilization - SD / SDHC / MMC / HCMMC Card Compatibility - HD Video Recording / Face Detection / Blink Detection / Smart Auto / Self-Timer - HDMI Output
I posted this deal 2 months ago and got this camera from BrandsMart at that time. the camera was new in the box but defective, common canon lens retraction issue, and I exchanged it without a problem at the Buford GA store the next day.
I agree that the store is a little odd however a new in the box camera paid for with a decent credit card is not a very big risk.
That said this is only a fair camera. reviews show it is not as good as the camera it replaced in the canon line and that enlargements come out only "good"
That said, for $118 or $114 if you can find it at OD its a decent "disposable" camera that is very small and can be carried and used when others cannot.
If you are in GA or FL where BM is located I suggest taking a chance on this. Most of the negative reviews center on store purchased extended warranties and responsiveness of sales and management staff. With Canon and a credit card you have to other options if you have an issue with the camera.
I charged mine on my AMEX which guarantees my ability to return for 90 days and extends the warranty for an additional year so I felt there was very little risk for me involved in the purchase
