I just bought the Samsung Front Load Washer (model WF410ANW) & Dryer w/Steam (model DV410AEW)for $1198 + tax at HHGregg. Free delivery after $69.99 rebate. This may be regional since they took the price off their Web site about 2 days ago. In store, the white colored units are $649 each. They also had the Red color for $699 each. Join the free HHGregg Gold savings club on their Web site and choose Major Appliances as an interst and a $50 off $599 appliance printable coupon is offered on submission. I joined myself and my wife to get two coupons, but the sales person really didn't care whether I had one or two coupons. I'm told the pricing is valid thru 9/8. I tried to get Lowes or Sears to do better, but no one would or could. Only Sears carries this exact model which is part of the problem. Lowes carries WF419xxx and WF350xxx series which both offer steam, but these were more money. One key difference is htat the WF410xxx series is only steam on the dryer, not the washer. The washer is NSF certified via an internal water heater instead. For me, I only cared about steam on the dryer to get rid of wrinkles.

I also followed another FW (or maybe SD) post to call Lowes for the pedestals and I scored two blue pedestals for only $25 each! $10 worth of white spray paint and I am good to go.

You can also get a good deal right now on Fridgidaire and Whirlpool Steam washer/dryer sets (i.e. 9550 series for Whirlpool), but some of the reviews on the WP unit had me scared (bearings wearing out) and there were little to no reviews on the Fridgidaire units. I typically try to buy American, but this is getting harder. The WP units and, I believe, the Fridgidaire units were made in Mexico anyway. A couple of the Bosch sets that I looked at were made in the USA. Of course, getting the two pedestals for $50 sealed the deal. Had I found Whirlpool pedestals for that price, I'm pretty sure I'd be having a Whirlpool washer and dryer delivered tomorrow instead of the Samsung. Oh, and don't forget to use a CC that doubles the warranty (most do).

Best Buy sells that model in stores too

I read a post about calling Lowes to see about customer returns. I called two in the area and both had 2-3 on hand in blue. They wanted $50 each, but when I picked them up, the guy charged less because of the poor condition of the packaging. $50 each seems to be typical. Painting them white was a little involved. To do it right, you need to tape off some attached foam material, remove an unpainted sheet metal panel from the back, and remove the drawers and drawer faces. And you will need an SUV or truck to pick up them, unless you remove the packaging and even then, you better have a big car. I had to tip the guys nicely to attach the pedestals as their general policy is not to reuse any homeowners materials.
