I'm very pleased with my Whirlpool Duet Sport WFW8300 and matching dryer, which I believe is smaller than the ones you're referring to. It does sound like a helicopter during spin. I have friends who are very happy with theirh GE front loaders. Another friend has had his Samsung refrigerator serviced twice in two years and it is age 3. Installation is key: proper installation means less vibration. Best is on a cellar cement floor.
I have one of the first versions of the Duet front load washer and dryer. Just make sure you DON'T close the door on the washer when not in use, othewise you will have a nasty mold and smell appear on the front bellow seal.
