Actually the $1100 off for the D300S deal is with some absolutely phenomenal lenses. $6000+ for the setup but if I had the resources I'd be all over it.

Waste of money, unless you are simply obsessed with photography. Even a professional wedding photographer could have a setup at 1/4 this price and the customers would never notice the difference in quality. At this price level you are getting to a level of meticulous detail that even pros could barely tell the difference.
You can pair a $700 DSLR with a $400 Tamron lens and get Pro level photos that will rival anything you'll ever see, assuming you know how to use the camera optimally.
More expensive isn't always better - technology is so advanced that even $500 DSLR cameras are excellent. I would actually choose the much cheaper Pentax k-x over the D300s because the Pentax low light performance is un-matched -- which is the main reason to get a DSLR over a point and shoot.
There is absolutely no way you can even compare a crop-sensor k-x to a full-frame D700. Just look at the low-light ISO scores in DxO mark: K-X and D700 DxO Mark comparison
There is no way I would let a photographer with a $500 camera (which will certainly be a crop-sensor camera) photograph my wedding!
Please don't post misleading statements.

I picked up the D7000 kit last Friday. With a 35mm f/1.8 lens I can shoot anything. I might miss getting a freelance contract with TMZ but this is the best combo short of a RED camera setup.

Dee, that comparison does not yet have the D7000, but the $1500 I saved over the D700 lets me afford 1/3 of a 300mm VRII lens and with DX vs FX that 300mm is now a whopper 450 @ f2.8 yummm
