not sure how something can be both "new" and "open box":

Condition: New - Open Box

you can get it for $89 shipped at Amazon: http://www.amazon.com/Motorola-SURFboard-Gateway-SBG901-Wireless/dp/B002M3SJ6U

this deal is $67 shipped. $22 seems like a decent discount, assuming it really is an unused open box item.

It is nice that this one also includes a wireless access point.

Be aware that DOCSIS 3.0v is the new standard and is currently being rolled out by Comcast and others. That cable modem is $90-100.

This is true; however, also take into consideration that I don't know anyone with home internet with speeds that even max out DOCSIS 2.0 yet. The advatange of 3.0 vs. 2.0 is that 3.0 has unlimited channels, 2.0 has one. I think DOSSIS 2.0 is theoretically good up to 30mbps. My current internet is 10mbps at $45/m...don't want to know what they'd want to charge for that kind of speed

Why lock yourself into a DOCSIS 2.0 cable modem and 802.11g router combo unit? You are not saving any money buying this new open box unit.

are there any alternatives that offer the same functionality in a single box? that is to say, a single box that is a cable modem and WiFi access point? I'd love to get a DOCSIS 3.0 modem with 802.11n WiFi, but as far as I know, nobody sells one.
