thanks for the heads up...didn't realize it was active...already ordered. OP glad you posted hopefully I'll get in line way before some of the other non-FW peeps.
disappointed in the choices. Only one style bumper. I know its free but the phone sure wasnt and either is the plan I am on so why not open up the bumper choices apple?
I just got a black bumper, since none of the cases appealed to me. I keep mine in a neoprene case, and have never liked cases, but the bumper hopefully will make it less slick to hold as well as alleviating antenna-gate.

Apple was having trouble producing enough bumpers before they decided to give it away. Limiting it to one color means they can produce them faster and get them to users with less confusion.
It's been a while (maybe someone could find the original thread). But were this many haters/complainers/reds in the Nintendo Wii free case/upgraded straps give away? Nintendo admitted their mistake. Offered free upgrades. It was done.

Agreed, and this green/red rating system is not much better. Posted a review link (above) of each case model available for free and got a RED? Don't really care, just pointing out the mentality of some folks on FW.

It's not meant to be a TC - I'm a non-smartphone user, so I have no skin in the game. It's a genuine inquiry - since all owners of the product are eligible, is it really a deal or now just a normal part of ownership?
get the f out of this forum trolls thanks for the heads up op.

You can return the phone if you don't like it.
Honestly, get over it. If you hate it so much, return it and get something else. If you don't, keep it and take the free case. It's really simple.
(Btw, I agree with the "Toyota brakes" guy. This isn't technically a hot deal.)
