TY OP! The text/layout of the website makes me think this is a T-Mobile venture, which is fine by me.

I am not sure how this sim works? So you need a unlocked phone to use it? Do they give you a phone number when you activate it? Thanks

thanks,hope it comes!

This how it works need to have any Sim Card phone from T-Mobile Or ATT! Or Any Sim Card Phone the only one won't work is your Tracfone and Your Net10
Phone will not work for this.

Razor Phone will work just fine. So how do you get it unlock? Well step 1. Call that phone that takes a sims card service provider that says on the phone. they can request a sims unlock which some people are stupid when it comes to unlocking phone so you can go to your local fix it shop for cellphones and they can unlock it for you for about $25-50 bucks which not that costly, or you can get it free from your service provider of that phone. Another way of getting your GSM phone unlock is Getting the Manufacturers of that kinda phone. Give them a call they can help you unlock it right away instead of having to wait for a requested Sims unlock for your GSM Phones.

Note: Any GSM Phone will work Besides Tracfone and Net10
Phones if you called the company they would look at you stupidly. Which falls back on the Manufacturer on the phone but who wants a Prepaid tracfone or Net10
phone unlock for that when you want the full benefits of the sims.

Note Also That ANY GSM/Sim CARDED Phone Can Be Unlocked Dont let anyone Tell you diffrent.

Here are The FAQS That you may want to look at. These may answer your questions regarding the SIMS Card Service.

FAQS:

What is GSM? Is it different than normal cell phone service? How do I know if I have GSM or not?

GSM is a type of digital mobile phone service. The more common type of digital mobile phone service in the US is CDMA, but just about every other country in the world uses primarily or only GSM.

For you as the user of your phone, there is no difference at all between using a phone on a CDMA system or a phone on a GSM system. Unfortunately, the two different systems are not compatible with each other.

If you have a T-Mobile, Cingular, or recent new M-mode type service with AT&T, then you have GSM service.

How do I know if my phone is already unlocked or not

Easy. Borrow a SIM from a friend who has an account with a different wireless service provider and see if it works in your phone or not. If it works, and your phone thinks it is his (or her) phone with that phone's number, then your phone is already unlocked.

But if it creates some sort of error message and doesn't work, then your phone is locked.

Is it legal to unlock my phone

It is your phone, isn't it? Then surely it is as legal that you unlock your phone as it is that you give it away, lose it, break it, leave it turned off, or do just about anything else with it!

Unless your phone service contract says 'this phone remains the property of us (the service provider) and you agree not to modify or alter it in any way' then there would seem to be no reason why you can't legally do anything you like with your phone, just so long as you're not attempting to defraud anyone.

It is illegal, in some countries, to change the phone's IMEI (serial number) - this is a type of what is called 'cloning' and, particularly with non-GSM phones, could enable you to then pretend to be someone else and have your airtime charged to someone else's account.

How do I know that my phone has been successfully unlocked

Usually, after entering the unlock codes
, the phone will say something that sounds sort of encouraging.

Do the test in the question two above. Borrow a SIM from a friend who has an account with a different wireless service provider and see if it works in your phone or not. If it works, then your phone is already unlocked, but if it creates some sort of error message and doesn't work, then your phone is still locked.

I've unlocked my phone, but when I turn it on, it still shows the name of the previous wireless service

This logo (called a 'splash screen') has been programmed into your phone by the company that sold it to you. It doesn't mean anything about which company now provides you phone service.

Unlocking your phone removes the electronic restriction that prevents your phone from working with other SIMs from other wireless services. It doesn't change your splash screen.

The good news is you can get rid of the splash screen without needing to unlock your phone. See if you can find in your phone's manual how to change the splash screen, or consider calling the phone manufacturer and have them walk you through it.

How do I know if my phone will work internationally

US GSM cell phones work on 1900 MHz (and sometimes also 850 MHz). Most other countries have GSM networks on 900 or 1800 MHz.

Will I have to unlock my phone every time I change SIMs

No. Once your phone is unlocked, it remains permanently unlocked, no matter what you do to it, unless you specially program back the lock code into it.

Will my existing service still work with my unlocked phone

Yes, your existing service will work perfectly with no change, as long as you leave your present SIM in your phone.

"TY OP! The text/layout of the website makes me think this is a T-Mobile venture, which is fine by me."

Don't think that T-Mo is involved with TruPhone at all, since it would compete seriously with 'em (check Wikipedia about their legal tanglings with T-Mo in EU), since it would be VOIP over cellular. Actually, TruPhone considers PR and VI as foreign countries on their pricing for this service, which is why I won't bite for this offer. If you, however, live Stateside [Lower 48] or going on vacation within the Lower 48 States (and not make calls outside of 'em) you might consider it.

There's a way to get a FREE unlocked GSM phone, which I'm waiting already for delivery; through M$ Club Bing. One of their STILL AVAILABLE prizes is an UNLOCKED Nokia 6300 (probably orphaned from Nokia's US warehouses when T-Mo bought SunCom) for slightly less than 30K "tickets" (BTW, today is 2x POINTS DAY, up to 1k "tickets" bonus). That phone is usually sold in the $100-150 range on FleaBay and there are quite a few Sellers that have OEM and China accesories for 'em (most of the Sellers are Chinese, since that model has mostly been sold overseas, but it used to be sold by SunCom and Cincinnatti Wireless Stateside, Rogers/Fido in Canada and Claro in some parts of Latin America (one US seller is now selling a slightly used version from the latter). IIRC, those are quad-band GSM phones, so they would work wonderfully for international travellers, if you're into swapping local SIM's.

Hope this will help some of you out there (this would also work for the PureTalk offer on this Board as well)...

PS: The reason TracFone/Net10
phones won't work for the UNLOCKED phone deals is that those have FIRMWARE programming to measure the units left on the SIM card itself, which would make 'em INCOMPATIBLE with any other carrier and would have to be removed before unlocking (it's more difficult and not fool-proof...).

Use "ezy482" as the new promo code until they block it. However, I don't think TruPhone is a good fit for most users.
