The flash drive alone is $30 at the egg. Not a bad deal IMHO.

Rebate

Newegg
See Newegg coupons that earn Up to 3.0% Cash Back.

looks hot to me. if only I had any use for the video card...

Rebate doesn't start until 9/9/10.

eBay the video card? has to fetch 15-20 bucks ? Enjoy free or nearly free 16gb thumb drive.

Good deal, thanks op. Ordered 1 set.

Oops- didn't look at that. Why would they give a link to future rebate?

Shoot, didn't read through the thread to see the rebate hasn't started and already ordered! Gotta go cancel this ASAP...

City of Industry, CA, where rebates go to die.

Someone please tell me that this is an outdated opinion and that they really do pay their rebates these days.

Not bad. Keep the video card in storage for when the current one catches on fire.

MSI should be okay. It's a fairly big company. Not one of those tiny, no-name, fly-by-night companies, which just sell rebadged, HDD enclosures, fans, PSU, etc... But still there's been some talk of them denying rebates or stating they never received it.

I bought a MSI MB/CPU combo from Fry's back in May and did receive my rebate at the end of August, so about 3 months. But Fry's will stand behind you if you did all the proper paper work and try to contact the manufacture. MSI has an online tracking, actually you need to fill out online, print out and then mail it. But still might be a bit risky.

So that ppl buy it full price and don't get the rebate
tricky!!

Well, ppl here cancelled!
But the response to cancellation email was almost instantaneous.

Pretty good deal AR. I've been seeing this type of card coming drastically down in price AR. For example, the egg had a deal a few weeks ago on a 8400GS video card that came out to be 9.99 AR & free ship. Good for basic usage, but not too much more than that. I upgraded from an integrated 6150SE video card and it is a boost for those people.

Sell the card for $10 on craigslist or a $15 on computer forums. Makes the the USB drive even cheaper.

For MSI video card, the rebate never comes.

Did get a rebate from them recently, even contacted me to verify ZIP code. English of the letter wasn't the greatest but did get the check a few weeks later after I contacted them. Edited E-mail I got from them:

Dear "moveover" ID:97500

We have been trying to send you your rebate for the MSI product you have purchase.
Unfortunately there has been some problem getting to you.
Can you confirm your address to see if it is correct so we can send the check.

999 Street
City, State, ZIP

Thank you,

The video card by itself is $35 at Newegg website, so it is $15 after rebate. I don't mind paying a little more to get the USB drive but how do we know for sure that the rebate is valid for the combo set?

Thanks to S????

Good deal!

You are very wrong. I got rebates from there always.

MSI makes you jump through too many hoops to get a rebate. They ask you for order #, serial # and a bunch of survey questions. You make a mistake, and the rebate is invalid. I avoid them if possible.

My guess is, this option will either be dead tomorrow, or the rebate will be killed by a certain weapon called "Cannot be combined with other offers or Promos".

I agree that most likely this will be dead by tomorrow, but the "Cannot be combined with other offers or Promos" shouldn't make a difference. Other offers and promos refer to what offers MSI make, not what Newegg chooses to do. It's no different then all of the OCZ memory and psu combos that have rebates.

Doesn't hurt to wait and see what happens!! But I am also worry about "Cannot be combined with other offers or Promos", it's a very legitimate disclosure to invalid the rebate unless someone call and verify.

Best case scenario: it means it can not be combine with any other rebate/offers directly from MSI not the reseller itself. Because it looks like a promo from Newegg to push out more product so they are giving out discount.

Worst case scenario: it's just like bing Cash Back, if you use coupon then you will be toasted!!

Anyone know what time zone Newegg is on? I'd like to try and get an early jump on this.

Seems to be pacific time. Their hours of operation (for phone or live chat) are given in PT, and they are located in CA.

Wouldn't the local time in the state you order in matter? I was about to pull the trigger on this and I am in NJ where there is a Newegg warehouse close by. Point being if I make an order right now it should say the time I order based on local time or no?

great deal, but i think the rebate people would consider a combo deal discount a promotion

damatrixz said: great deal, but i think the rebate people would consider a combo deal discount a promotion

I would have to agree...Unlike the normal, small print "can not be combined..etc, etc" that is usually with these offers...they decided to make it a point on this form.

The video card says 64 bit. Can I used it with my old computer running 32 bit Windows XP? Thanks a lot.

I have this card and it works fine with Pentium 4 and 32 bit Windows XP.

Yes, it should work just fine with that. It shows your current time zone so you can get in on this deal now if you like.

Also it says on the fineprint at the bottom "Your invoice is used as proof of purchase for your MSI product AT A RETAIL PRICE between ...... "

I guess I rather wait....

qqzj said: The video card says 64 bit. Can I used it with my old computer running 32 bit Windows XP? Thanks a lot.
Hehe... I never thought of that.
That's memory bandwidth. That 64-bit has nothing to do with the way an operating system works. Most video cards are 256-bit, even 128-bit, and other variations. They have no influence on the type of operating system you have.

It's funny you said that, but actually it's a VERY good question if you are an average person who's not super computer savvy.

Look like the rebate was not supposed to be included in the combo...no more rebate on the egg combo.

mrt7tran said: For MSI video card, the rebate never comes.Received two rebates without incident on MSI video cards, one on this very video card.

Milko said: Look like the rebate was not supposed to be included in the combo...no more rebate on the egg combo.Could very well be that the rebate was not supposed to be included, but I don't see in the rebate terms combo deals are excluded.

[EDIT]
This could be the exclusion:
Note: Offer cannot be combined with other promotions or special offers.

USBDeview v 1.77 will list any/all USB devices that are, or ever have been, connected to your computer...super cool.... and you can right click on a conected device and test both the read and write speeds. This app, along with some of the others listed are very useful info. This OCX diesel drive tested at 3.68 mb/sec write and 17.5 mb/sec read.
FWIW I got 3.77 write and 16.75 read. (Through a USB hub).
