In for one. The reviews aren't encouraging but I am pretty adept at taking my roomba apart and servicing it, so I hope I can handle this baby.

Same here. i am just more concerned about the battery issue but with AMEX my warranty should be extended by another year and returns or replacement shouldn't be an issue.
I picked one up for well under $100 and it has held up very well so far. It vacuums and also scrubs the floor with a solution with a turn of a dial. It's much more traditional that an iRobot product but it works better, faster and is overall a better value IMHO.
No more iRobot products for me. They just don't hold up for long ...
After 2 years , I just brought my old Scooba back to life and am happy to see it back in action. Loved it on hardwoods, was sad to see it decommissioned, sitting in a box while I had to live with carpeted apartments.
The old 5800 model which was actually better than this 5900, due to longer battery etc, obtained it on the cheap @ BBB on clearance when the 5800 was obsoleted, funny enough, because it was too expensive and the 5900 model was built to be cheaper.
Mine lasted 1.5 years, was sitting idle for 2, and is now back in action without an issue. YES, it's slow. That is obvious. No one said it cleans as fast as I can. However, I can't sit on my ass playing video games (or be at work) while my non-existent good twin cleans the floors.
There's a use for it, and it is what it is.

All I gotta say is that my wife no longer needs to scrub the kitchen floor on her hands and knees. That gives me the bragging rights of being an awesome husband.

My scooba arrived this weekend and Sunday morning after a night of charging, I put that bad boy to work. I must admit, it did a pretty good job on the kitchen floor. Even after my wife scrubbed it on her hands and knees last week, the dirty water out of the scooba machine after it was done was still pretty damn dirty. Thank you IROBOT.
