The computer in the link at the top of the page is not the same one that is in the ad. The regular price of the one in the link is $499.00 and it is a different model number with better specs. They look the same, but they have different model numbers

Thanks a lot....

It was in Grants Pass Daily Courier today.... Surely others and maybe in eMail Some have reported on other posts, Staples will take the 5 digit code, ad in hand or not.
They still have the dv6-3010us at $499, down from $699. I traded in an 8 yr old desktop for $50 off and there is a rebate out there for $50 (no good at Staples.com, but OK in store....they just don't tell you about it) but you have to download the PDF from officemax or another retailer....(and I already got my confirmation of check being processed!) I was lucky to get in on the last $50 off any computer coupon. I got mine for $350 plus local tax. If you check the specs on this machine, it is much better than the Compaqs shown here....and is a great deal if you can get all of the coupons/rebates, etc.
I'm quite happy with this unit.....and would have been happy at $400 for the specs. If you are looking at this deal, I'd at least check out the dv6-3010us.

Currently out of stock @ Staples........but a good buy re above post at that price.......
Check your local store since the rebate is not good for online anyway...only good if you buy from Staples in store....I've also heard of people getting Office Depot to match Staples then give the extra $50 off for trade-in dollars, even though they don't want the unit. I didn't do this, however, so i can't vouch for what my friends say they did....if they do that and you get the rebate, then you are in for $400, which is still a steal for the dv6 3010us....

That is the way to go...especially if you have an old desktop or lappie laying around.....

I thought $50 for old working laptop was for pricier PCs (above $500)?
BTW - I took in 5 yr old Acer fully working laptop but the store refused is due to small crack on the hinge even though the terms & conditions did not exclude it.

I think the 'original' or list price has a floor; however, the sale price is where they take the discount from. In the case of the dv6 3010us, the 'original' price was $699, so it qualified. As to them not taking the lappie you brought in, I would've asked for the manager since as long as the thing booted up, you should have been fine...my Staples didn't even plug my trade-in in or look at it. Guess it just depends on the store...
