The top of the line 5000 toothbrush is $139.99 at BB&B, so after a 20% coupon it'd be $112 plus tax. At Amazon, it's $95 minus half back by rebate, so total of $47.50 with tax/shipping. I don't even need a new one, but might have to get an extra for when mine breaks. This is cheaper than I've ever seen them.
Limit 3 per name, address, and envelope. Got 3 since I can submit all 3 rebates together.
I got the Professional Care 9950 Special Edition 2 handle pack at Sam’s Club for $59.88. It’s not listed online but it’s listed here at Amazon.
I didn’t see Sam’s Club listed as a participating retailer for the MIR, so maybe they lowered their price to stay competitive without it. I just paid $120ish for the same package 3 months ago.
Does anyone have any experience with these. They are rated highly by consumer reports. Is the only difference between the 4000 and 5000 series the little wireless smartguide? If so, that feature seems "gimicky" to me and for $15 less I might go with the 4000 series. Comments? THanks!
Bed Bath AND Beyond is participating store for Rebate. They usually have 20% off coupon which will make up for Tax saved compare to Amazon and some more.

It's like my post above doesn't exist. Is it difficult to understand or something?

Looking through consumer reports, they reviewed 10 models, 3 of which were oral-b, and the top two (one being the oral-b triumph professional care 9400) were claimed to have "removed 75 percent or more plaque in our tests, on average" though I don't think it's a claim against/over the other brushes. It wasn't a really thorough review. The 3rd place brush was the oral-b profession care 7400, which they list at 70 versus the 9400's $130. Amazon's list price: $57 for the 7400 http://www.amazon.com/Oral-B-Professional-Care-7400-Toothbrush-1... $148 for the 9400 http://www.amazon.com/Oral-B-Triumph-Professional-Power-Toothbru...

Umm...when was that review dated? Those models look old.

"Subjects using the power brush with the wireless display showed statistically significantly more thorough brushing across the dentition and lingual/buccal surfaces relative to baseline. The power brush alone did not show a significant difference relative to baseline."
Of course it's just one study, but at least it's done by a public university rather than proctor and gamble or what not.
I went with the 5000 myself, but I think you're probably fine with either if you have good brushing technique. In most studies that I've seen where they use dental students instead of regular people they find that a manual toothbrush does just as well as the most expensive electric ones.

Seriously? People actually use these gimmicks? I have been using these oral-b/braun toothbrushes since the beginning of time and my technique is flawless. I also brush for more than 2 minutes. If you are missing spots or doing it wrong a good dentist can tell you exactly what you are neglecting. Basically they are all the same and this one is the best bang for the buck: http://www.amazon.com/Oral-B-Professional-Care-Power-Toothbrush/...
$24.23 AR
Forgot to add that I always toss the heads that come with them and buy the extra-soft heads. The other various heads are gimmicks anyway, there is no substitute for flossing.
In for one, as a backup. Eventually the battery will stop charging = dead. But they do last a long time, well worth it.
Even the ridiculously expensive Triumph uses the same "40,000 in-and-out pulsations per minute that gently loosen plaque, and 8,800 side-to-side oscillations" engine that all pro-series and up use.

The price of the 4000 has dropped since your post.
Got my brushes today and already have the rebate filled out and ready to go. The boxes show the 50% off prominently on the outside and also have the sticker referring to a $15 rebate if you visit the dentist. So if you're going to visit the dentist this year anyway (I will), you get another $15 off. $140 toothbrush for closer to $30. Not bad! Thanks again Mr. C.

The 50% off rebate states that only pone rebate per product... so i might be hesitant to risk the 50% off side of things.
Bought 2 5000 series for my parents... maybe now they will finally switch to electric...
50% off rebate form from Amazon clearly states - 3 rebates per person, address or envelope Unless you are referring to a rebate form that is on the box itself. Please clarify.
$15 off for dentist visit - what are the restrictions on this form?

I was wondering about what he was talking about as well. I just double-checked and the paperwork attached to the box is exactly as posted here and specifies 3 rebates per person and envelope, not 1. I'm confident in sending 3 together.

Rebate valid on detanl visits b/w 8/24/09 an 8/24/11. One rebate per product. rebate submission requires just the form included in box and a printed receipt. Rebate must be postmarked by 9/7/11. rebate form requires your info as well as your dentist's info and date of visit. Basically, if you visit the dentist by this time next year, it should be no problem to get the extra $15 rebate.

About the dentist rebate - just noticed it also requires original UPC. Has anyone mailed this one after the 50% one and if so did you use a copy and had no problems or what?
