I'm with aughsum. Great price but I'm hoping for a blue ray/surround package at this price. My 32" Sony tube tv still works so no need to replace it just yet. Nice find OP.
Why is this better than the Samsung 50 inch they had yesterday at $550?

32" Sony? Mine FINALLY died. Good luck moving it - it literally weighs about 170lbs. The movers said it is the heaviest TV he has ever seen.
On one of the review it said this TV has a matte finished screen instead of the glossy. That sounds like it would be really good in a room with a lot of windows. Does anyone know if this is true?
It does have a matte finish. I went to the local hhgregg store and saw it last week. I then bought it from Dell for about $350 less then what I could get it at hhgregg.
Seems like a damn good deal and I almost bit on it until I remembered about Sony's copy protection scheme. If you do any DVD ripping or stream movies (especially from Sony pictures) from any kind of bit torrent site ect. I have a feeling you might be out of luck with this one.

Basically at one time I knew someone who downloaded the movie Robin Hood from usenet and burnt it to a DVD and tried to play it in a Sony PS3, it failed because of copy protection, He then tried streaming anothe copy of it through Playon from TVLinks through his PS3 to the TV, again it failed. Afterwards he simply bypassed the PS3 and both streamed the movie and played it on his laptop connected directly straight to the TV and bypassed all problems. After further studying he realized the error that came up both times on his PS3 had to do with Sony's copy protection scheme. Same thing with other movies from Sony pictures he tried to play. To the best of my knowledge both the PS3 and the Bravia carry the same copy protection scheme aka they are both "HDCP copy protection signal compliant".
Hmmm...maybe I'm wrong after scowering over the net I couldnt find any references in any threads to the Sony Bravia Internet capable Tv's & Copy Protection problems. I know there were a lot of reports with the Sony Ps3's and Cinavia copy protection problems though.

At this time there is no non-Blu-ray player that enforces Cinavia (see link).
And Cinavia is enforced by the device decoding the video file. So even if this TV had it unless you use the built-in streaming/playback capabilities, it wouldn't kick in.
Like I said before I'm probally wrong because after scowering over the net I couldnt find any references in any threads to the Sony Bravia Internet capable Tv's & Copy Protection problems although there were a lot of reports with the Sony Ps3's and Cinavia copy protection problems though. I can personally guarntee you his story is true with the PS3 though, although the part about the TV carrying the same code is now very doubtful.
BTW.....Lots of reports about Robin Hood & Cinavia protection........
Why is the deal @ fry's regional specific, woo woo. I can't get one online!!! And Best Buy refused to price match it since they said it's a clearance item @ fry's.

I have had this TV for a couple of months now and I am still amazed at how great the picture is, and I can't believe how quickly the price has come down. I guess Sony is clearing the way for all those 3D TVs that no one will buy.
For what its worth, I have never noticed the edge lighting. And as for copy protection issues, I am not sure its a real problem because someone "at one time" knew someone else who could not play an illegal copy of a movie on another, totally different product by the same company. . . .

Crap. Thought about it too long. Looks like it's dead.
Just bought the 52" 701 at Sams Club for 1348 +tax. About $80 more than this deal would have been for me, but I missed this one. Also includes a Wifi dongle and a 3 year warranty.

Which location did you get it for this price, please? Sam's Club has it listed online for $1498. Would it be possible to post a copy of your receipt please?

Zip 73003, Club #8289 and #8117 both show in store pickup for $1348. I'll try to post my receipt.
