Please do not kill me: I am just the messenger. Now-a-days I am horrified before I post anything. I swear, I searched Netgear, Netgear DSL, NETGEAR DGND*. Only then I dared to post.

Got it yesterday. Set up nicely with AT&T DSL. Upgraded the F/W (atomatically). Till not no issues.

I got one of these months back (paid more, though also recertified). It's an excellent router and saves on having a DSL modem running separately. I really like the integration. Otherwise a good all-around router.

Only two complaints are that
A) Port forwarding does not seem to work. I've seen complaints on Netgear forum about this, seems to span several devices including this one.
B) DD-WRT (or similar) don't exist for this router without losing the ADSL. So you're stuck for now with the existing firmware.

OP, your first sentence says much and you're probably not alone.
Thanks.

Great deal. Unfortunately I just purchased the Actiontec GT701D DSL modem for my new AT&T service. Wish this was around last week.

Also, don't worry about posting because of few repost police types and mod wannabes, they are a minority don't mean anything, just post away, the worst that will happen is that the mods will close or move your post, everyone else are just strangers with an opinion.

Does it automatically detect the correct DSL settings for AT&T? Or do you have to enter settings like VPI and VCI?

Been looking for one of these on eBay since I got in on the AT&T DSL deal, and about $55 for a refurb was about as good as I could find. Great deal, and my Actiontec modem will go back to Best Buy.

I wouldn't worry so much about getting harassed. People can be rough, but if you post a good deal with a reasonable amount of info, which you have done, you'll feel the love.

Great timing, thanks op!

Good deal, two concerns with the device:
LAN: 10BASE-T or 100BASE-Tx - no Gigabit ethernet (why have wireless N when wired connections will be slower)
USB File systems: FAT, FAT32, NTFS (read only) and Linux

May not be an issue for some, lack of GigE is a dealbreaker for me

With the 3mb AT&T service I'm using it with, I highly doubt anything about this device will be a bottleneck.

It sensed VPI and VCI for me. However, I saw few webpaages do not load atfirst time: hit "refresh".. voila. Irritating at times []

do dsl modems typically have gig ports on 'em?

I'm also left scratching my head wondering why no Gigabit Ethernet. It's not like it was a cheap router to begin with...

By the way, why is this thread now marked "Expired?" The deal is still alive if you click the link. It's the Open Box version that is deactivated.

I just got mine and it does NOT work at all. Plus, Netgear wants to charge me since this product has no serial number when I called them for help.

Really bad impression for me with the product. When I hooked it up with my phone jack, the DSL light did not even on. I guess this product is completely a piece of junk. Now I'll have to figure out how to return it.

Setting DNS to 68.94.156.1 Primary 68.94.157.1 Secondary may solve "Page not loading at first time" problem.

I got one. It detects the DSL signal and the Internet lite is on but I cannot connect. I set the primary and secondary DNS values but still nothing.
