eME725-4520 Laptop $298 @ WalMart 2/28/2010 I found this in the local paper tonight. I can't find this model anywhere on the web so I scanned in the ad so you can look see for yourself. Key points from the ad:
- Intel Pentium CPU T4400 - Windows 7 Home Premium - 15.6 LCD Display (1366 X 768) - 3GB RAM - 250GB Hard drive - CD/DVD R/W

Currently between the e-machine WalMart deal for $298 and the current Dell Inpiron 15 deal for $399 Specs look almost identical so is the $100 difference basically for the Dell name? If not what differences are there?
The only differences are the e-machine actually comes with 3GB of DDR3 1066 RAM, not DDR2 as listed (I got one and opened it up to confirm) while the Dell has 3GB of DDR2 800, and the Inspiron comes with a webcam. I have been very happy so far with my e-machine laptop, but it looks like WalMart is starting to run low on stock. I have both listed in my newest Laptop Roundup from today here.
emachine is known for being very bad quality. They're use to be a site by former employees (who couldn't stand screwing customers anymore) "emachinesucks.com," but emachine bought-and-killed it, (goes to emachines now). Very interesting what the former employees said.
My dad got a settlement after filing a lawsuit against them.
CS was worse then the laptop itself.
Just my (and Dad's) experience (and thousands and thousands of people who went to the site).

Chris.
How do we know that you're not a Dell employee secretly trying to suppress the opposing viewpoints?
I've had my share of problems with Dell computers as well as their customer (dis)service (broken laptops, hard drive crashes, power supply/connector issues, rebates that don't come, etc.). I'd go with the e-machines myself. Couldn't be worse and probably lots better.
