Hardly. So, the price of one pound of coffee goes up 5-30 cents. You can make about 50 espresso shots from a pound of coffee. That translates into less than 1 cent increase per shot. I doubt they will bother...

Hah! Not how starbucks works. If their cost goes up 1 cent, they will raise prices by 10 cents.
Mark my words.

Good point. In 2006 Starbucks bought 300 million pounds of coffee. 300,000,000 x .30 cents = $9,000,000 in additional costs. Not much spread over 17,000 stores.

Let history repeat itself and do like we did during the Colonial era, when we seceded from England as a British colony. We adopted coffee because the colonist didn't want anything to do with whatever could be associated with England. Now that coffee beans are rising, due to increased market demand, we should switch back to tea again. Besides, tea (especially green tea) has anti-oxidants that can prevent the onset of cancer.

Talking about anti-oxidants and anti-cancer, coffee is better than tea.
Strangely enough, Walgreens has been having sales on instant coffee for the last few weeks. This week for instance, they have Maxwell House 8 oz instant coffee for $4. They had a similar sale last week as well if I remember correctly, and the week before that I picked up Chase & Sanborn 7 oz instant coffee for $3.49 at Walgreens. It's the lowest price I have ever seen for instant coffee and even beats WalMart's store brand (Great Value) by a significant amount. If a price rise is imminent, it isn't here yet.
In my experience even whole bean coffee will not stay fresh (great aroma, oily residue still present)unless it is really well vacuum sealed (better than they do for most store-bought coffee. Standard weak vacuum or nitrogen flushing only holds for 3-4 months max.
So depending on what you are going to stock up on, it might be a bad idea from the taste perspective.
