Good Morning EconoWallet,
My apologies, I can definitely see where there would be some confusion. SwipeAuctions is not a new website, we have simply made a name change, therefore it makes more sense on how we have reached 1 million customers. We have made a few cosmetic changes to the site but it is still the same. I hope this clears up your concern.
If you have any other questions or concerns please feel free to contact me personally at jennifer@swipeauctions.com

No, you ARE a gambling website! I pay for the opportunity to bid on a auction. In fact I pay for each bid. Except that unlike a REAL auction, these gambling "auctions" (word used very loosely) only end when people quit paying money. If an auction is set to end at 10 AM, it should end at 10 AM. If someone makes a bid at 9:59 AM, that means that unless someone else places a bid before 10 AM they should be the winner. However, in the case of these gambling "auctions", the auction end time is extended each time someone bids in the closing minutes of the auction. This means that the House (Gambling term which means the owner of the business.) keeps raking in money using this model, because the auction can theoretically NEVER END! There is mounting anecdotal evidence that these gambling sites employ shills (real or computerized) in order to keep auctions alive. That's going to be a judgement call on your end as to whom you believe; Employees of the companies, or disgruntled losers of these gambling "auctions".
PS... So what was the old name of your site?

Thank you Jennifer/Henan from swipeauctions for your replies. I do have some deeper questions for you that, if answered clearly without hype, I will be happy to openly post if you answer my questions clearly.
Here it is:
Jennifer,
Maybe you can clear up your real identity then. Is swipeauctions address in Surrey, CO, UT, somewhere in the US, Sherwood Park, AB and anywhere else that I couldn't find.
Then, clear up the swipebids/swipeauctions connection to justthinkmedia. Cross referencing swipebids and justthink media with the BBB produces the same name as the owner. If you look at the past history, you will see a mountain of complaints.
If you can clear up these facts and even put your MAIN address prominantly on your website, you will honestly look better.
Please, no hype. We know you think your site is legit. Just tell us why the multiple addresses and link between justthink media and swipeauctions/swipebids.
This same owner apparently has law suits. One I see is with Oprah who claims she didn't endorse one of the past marketing concepts. Is this true? How about the Microsoft lawsuit with the present owners (but past businesses)? I know this one was settled.
And lastly, tell us specifically about the past owners legal battles in UTAH dealing with "toothpaste".
If you can clear all this up, I will be the first one to openly admit to not being concerned here.
Yep, saw that. Was hoping for something a little more focused on the issue.

I Had the very same concerns about "for10cents.com " when they cheated me out of an auction I had won. First of all, even their name is misleading. Bids cost .15 cents each, NOT .10 cents. If you spend 1,000.00 you can buy bids for ten cents, ALL others are fifteen cents. I was bidding and winning on an auction fot a camera. I placed a bid with one second on the clock...all of the sudden, the auction ended with someone elce being the winner ( someone who had won five other auction in the past ten days ). I went on to notice that almost ALL the posted winners had won anywhere between 3-10 auctions in the past 30 days. That seemed fishey to me ,so I did the math. In the past 24 hours, they had run 20 auctions with a collective total of 45,418 bids. At .15 cents a bid, they grossed 681,621.00 - IN 24 HOURS !. With numbers like these it seemed very odd to me that the same people would be winning over and over again. Two individuls won more than TEN times in 30 days. When I tried to contact for10cents.com, no one had the courtsy to answer my e-mail. One winners screen name was "IBOUGHT2000bids " I thought that was REALLY odd since you have to register BEFORE you buy your bids. Do I believe that these were people were real ? ......heavens NO !!!!!

I have purchased from this site and it is a scam.
I saw an article/add in the Memphis Gazette add stating "100 Free Bids" on September 14th, 2010 to which my I created a 'user account'. I had to give credit card info for debiting an account if your bid was successuful. I tried to bid on a few items (within my 100 free bids)that I had signed up for. Instead a debit to my account for $159 to charge card was made as a result of that bid. Upon contacting them, I was told that was the 'membership fee' that was disclosed (09/01/2010 09/05/2010 Sale AW-SWIPE-BID.COM(Services and Merchandise) 24907630246905106046271 $159.00 )
No disclosure anywhere in the registration site discloses this fee (see http://www.swipeauctions.com/registration_pg1.php). After bidding I received an email with the following (Non Public information deleted):
"Date/Time:14/09/10 01:40:09 Order ID: 790137 Should you ever have any problems whatsoever, please don´t hesitate to contact our live technical support staff - available 5 days a week. Nowhere in the above was any mention again about a 'membership fee'. When I looked at my credit card statement I found out I was debited the amount above and proceeded to disput the charge first through my credit card company and then with the fradulent company SwipeAuctions.com . Upon calling the toll free # above, during the several minute wait, there's an announcement about this fraudulent fee being charged and I than waited for someone to answer after several minutes waiting. It appeares several others have now found out about this scam and undoubtably are also holding for a live person to address this rip off as well. I was told that by bidding I signed up for the membership by SwipeAuctions.com- that is was the 'account setup fee'. After disputing it I was directed to their site and printed out the "mail-in refund request form". Now, it's a matter of praying for a refund, if I'm lucky. This is a very expensive lesson to learn.

Demand them to refund your money over the online chat. You don't have to fill the paper form. They only want you to do that to make it as difficult as possible. I got coned too but I demanded it right away. Here is my conversation with them:
Please wait for a site operator to respond.
You are now chatting with 'Peter'
Peter: Thank you for visiting SwipeAuctions.com Livechat Line. Our goal is to provide you with excellent customer service while assisting you with any questions or concerns you may have. We are here to help you win auctions, save money and have a great time. May we start with your name please?
you: ######
you: I am asking again to get refund of the $159 charged on my visa.
Peter: I would be happy to assist you with your concern, so in order to pull up the details of your account, can you please provide me with your full name, e-mail address and zip code?
you: ######@###.net, ######
Peter: Please wait while I check your order details in our system.
you: I didn't order anything.
Peter: In order to further assist you, could I please have you CLICK HERE, to confirm that this is the checkout page you completed your registration from. This link will take you to the Original SignUp Page where you will see that the price of the membership is mentioned in several locations. Upon reviewing, are you able to locate where the $159.00 price is disclosed above the shipping form?
you: It is a shipping form, not an order form. There is no way that for less than one day it would cost $159. Even with the bids, they are all there. I return them in full, so please refund my money.
Peter: Certainly, I can help you with that. Typically we do not allow for refunds under these circumstances, as the price is very clearly disclosed. It is the consumer’s responsibility to read the page carefully before entering credit card information. Regardless, I will gladly provide you with this simple refund form for you to complete as it is required by our bank in order for us to issue your refund. Please CLICK HERE to get a refund.
Is there anything further I can assist you with today?
you: Your refund form is nothing but simple and you know that. If you didn't ask me to sign a paper form to charge me money, why would you require a paper form for refund?
Peter: It is required by our bank in order for us to issue your refund.
you: I will contact my bank to fill a fraud charge if I don't get my refund. I would rather spend time to fill that form.
you: My bank never required me to fill a form for an online refund.
Peter: I apologize that you feel you have no choice but to dispute the membership charge. In an attempt to maintain you as one of our new members and make this a positive experience for you; I am authorized to immediately refund 50% of your membership. Along with the 50% refund, I will add 300 additional bonus bids to your account. This reduces your cost by 50% and increases your chances at winning an auction by 100%. Is this an acceptable solution for you at this time?
you: No, I want full refund, nothing less.
Peter: We apologize for the inconvenience. There was clearly some confusion with this purchase. We do not want to see our customers unhappy. We will issue a refund to the credit card it was purchased from. The refund for the original Membership Bid Pack will be processed and you can expect to see your credit within 5-7 business days.
you: I hope you keep your word. If I don't get it in that time, I will call my bank. Thanks.
Peter: You will get it on right time. --------------------------------
Even if they give you your refund, contact your State Attorney General ASAFP! Trust me. They will want to put these jokers out of business. I would expect conference calls with their counterparts in every State in the Union right after they get your complaint.
When I first saw this type of site a year or so ago, I thought it was genius. The site can sell a $50 card for $25 and still make $100 in profit (just made up the numbers, but you get the point). I was up all night wondering how I didn't come up with it. That night I was watching the bids at one of the sites, and could actually start to identify many shill bidders and bots. It was quite obvious watching some spend a lot more than the product is worth. I am sure those sites have made the shills and bots much more difficult to identify now, but I suspect most still do use them to boost some auction prices until they at least break even.
SwipeAuctions said: therefore we are not a gambling company You most certainly are a gambling company. Someone can spend lots of money and never get anything. It's a gamble.
SwipeAuctions said: As well I guarantee we do not use bots or shill bidders as it is against our policy and we have no need to as there is over 1 million customers registered with our site. There is a lot of shill bidding and bots going on on many of these type of sites. How can you guarantee that there are no shill bidders or bots (not even early on)? Is there a legitimate 3rd party auditing?
Also, this is quite suspicious: 50 latest won auctions 1 MacBook Pro won by killerplauze for $279.46 2 MacBook Pro won by killerplauze for $366.35 28 XBOX 360 Elite + 750 BIDS won by killerplauze for $133.82 33 MacBook Pro won by killerplauze for $511.18 34 XBOX 360 Elite + 750 BIDS won by killerplauze for $59.93 38 Canon EOS Rebel + 1000 Bids won by killerplauze for $356.14 17 Canon EOS Rebel + 1000 Bids won by killerplauze for $255.56 48 Sony Cybershot Camera + 1000 BIDS won by killerplauze for $25.65
27 WalMart Gift Card $100 + 750 BIDS won by TRDRTOM for $76.14 11 WalMart Gift Card $150 + 1000 BIDS won by TRDRTOM for $103.45 14 Nintendo DSI + 500 BIDS won by TRDRTOM for $56.42 15 Coby Portable DVD Player + 500 BIDS won by TRDRTOM for $9.69 16 Motorola TN765t Auto GPS won by TRDRTOM for $73.05 19 Panasonic 32" + 1000 Bids won by TRDRTOM for $149.90 45 Apple iPad 16 GB WiFi + 1000 BIDS won by TRDRTOM for $509.97 24 Apple iPad 16 GB WiFi + 1000 BIDS won by TRDRTOM for $469.41 49 WalMart Gift Card $150 + 1000 BIDS won by TRDRTOM for $78.10
I wonder if they are real, and if so are they using some sort of software to get ahead. These 2 people (if they are 2 different people, or people at all) won close to 40% of the last 50 auctions. I wonder how many they win in a day.
Anyhow, even if these bidders are real it is still gambling. Every bid is a gamble.
This page is a crock of shit. If you want your site to be legitimate you should be honest. It ruins any integrity you may have as you now have a proven track record of lying. And whoever wrote that page must never have played poker. I challenge you to argue this point with me here and make it one of the number one google results for your company.

When VistaPrint.com did the same thing to me (apparently there were check boxes to opt in to a $30/month service - which were conveniently checked as default) I called up my CC and told them about it. That customer service rep was very nice and actually said that it was fraud.

Dear Swipe Auction,
Your live customer chat representative informed me that Swipe Auction operated legitimately here in good 'ol United States. Your website also boldly states that you are a legitimate establishment here in the United States, also operating from offices from other countries. I assume that your offices here in the United States are also legitimate and following business codes and have properly obtained a business license from the city (or county, if operating in a location that is unincorporated). If you still, at this point, claim that you are a legitimate business here in the United States, or in Aurora CO or Los Angeles CA, then by law, your business is required to publicly display their business license and must be able to prove that your business is legal to operate in the United States by providing a business license number if asked.
"...all Business Licenses must be posted in public view at the fixed location of the business. If no fixed location in the City, the responsible party must carry the Business License with them while conducting business..."
Essentially, this states that the business must publicly post their license that contains their business license, so, if need be, the business can be verified by Department of Consumer Affairs. If Swipe Auction still believes they are legitimate, please provide the public with your business license, stating that you are a legal business here in the United States.
If Swipe Auction can provide this to me, I will believe that this penny auction website is NOT a scam. I await your post.
